About the Dark Bridges Film Festival

Over the past few years I’ve been heading out to Toronto for film festivals. While I don’t think I will stop doing this anytime in the near future as it is a lot of fun I have realize that there is no reason for me to have to do this. I should be able to see good independent and foreign films in a festival atmosphere here in Saskatoon. We get the big blockbusters and both the Roxy and Broadway do a fine job of bringing in great smaller films but I want to be able to enjoy the thrill of sitting in a packed festival audience. Over the past year my belief in what the Dark Bridges Film Festival should be has grown. Originally the plan was for it to be a regular genre festival with horror, sci-fi, action and cult movies. While a strong aspect of the festival will still reside within the genre field the plan is to see if we can bring in movies which expand what audiences of genre film see. The world of independent film covers a lot of area and I would love to see Saskatoon get the chance to experience this world.

I believe that Saskatoon is ready for a new wave of films and I hope that you are willing to join us on what will surely be a wild ride.
